"The Rise of Skywalker" still dominates the box-office, but it has been a solid first weekend of 2020 for most of the films in the Top 10 as the overall revenue is up 2% from last year. Sony's new horror film "The Grudge" exceeded expectations but still delivered a modest debut. Also, "Frozen II" is now the highest grossing animated film of all time.

Find out more about the weekend box-office after the jump.

Disney's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" is the #1 movie at the box-office for a third consecutive weekend with $33.7 million. The film has dropped 53.4%, but it managed to gross $450.7 million domestically in just 17 days. Overseas it raked in another $50.5 million for an international total of $468 million, which brings the film very close to becoming Disney's 7th 2019 release to top $1 billion.

The sequel "Jumanji: The Next Level" dropped just 25% and raked in $26.5 million over the weekend, which brings its domestic total to $236.2 million. The film's international tally has reached $374 million after grossing another $42.4 million this weekend.

Greta Gerwig's period drama "Little Women" finished its second weekend in third place with $13.5 million, dropping just 19%. The film has grossed a total of $60 million domestically, while overseas it brought in $9.5 million over the weekend for an international total of $20.4 million.

The weekend's only new wide release, the R-rated horror reboot "The Grudge" opened in fourth place with $11.3 million, which is much better than Sony's $9 million expectations. Even though it's a modest debut, the film has actually succeeded in earning back its $10 million production budget in just 3 days.

However, since the film is a reboot of the 2004 remake of the 2002 Japanese horror classic "Ju-on", it can be judged harshly in comparison to the 2004 film, which opened with $39.1 million and went on to gross a total of $110.3 million domestically. The slow performance is similar to that of Paramount's "The Ring" reboot, which opened with $13 million in 2017.

"The Grudge" also opened in 29 international markets and raked in $5.8 million. The film has received a very negative reception from both critics (17% on Rotten Tomatoes and 37 on Metacritic) and moviegoers (a rare and catastrophic "F" grade from CinemaScore's opening day polls).

Rounding out the Top 5 is "Frozen II" with $11.2 million, which brings its domestic tally to $449.8 million, while overseas, it has grossed a total of $875.3 million. Adding it all up, the animated film has raked in a total of $1.325 million worldwide, surpassing its predecessor's $1.281M to become the highest grossing animated release of all time.

In other news, Rian Johnson's "Knives Out" is holding out surprisingly well after the holidays, as the film dropped just 9%, the lowest drop among all releases for a second consecutive weekend. The film has finished the weekend in seventh place with $9 million. It's domestic cume has reached $130.2 million after 39 days in theaters. Overseas it added another $8.8 million for an international total of $117.2 million.
