Justin Theroux to Star in MOSQUITO COAST Series for Apple

Justin Theroux to Star in MOSQUITO COAST Series for Apple
"The Leftovers" star Justin Theroux has signed on to star in Apple's upcoming series adaptation of "Mosquito Coast". Created by Neil Cross ("Luther"), the series is based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Paul Theroux, Justin's uncle. The book was previously adapted for the big screen in 1986 by filmmaker Peter Weir, and the film starred Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and River Phoenix.

"Mosquito Coast" follows an idealist who uproots his family to Latin America. Cross will co-write the first episode alongside Tom Bissell, and he will also serve as showrunner on the series. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" helmer Rupert Wyatt will executive produce and direct the first episode and subsequent episodes.

Apple is set to launch its streaming service Apple TV+ on November 1.

Theroux can next be heard in Disney+'s upcoming live-action remake of "Lady and the Tramp", in which he voices the Tramp, and he is set to star in the horror film "False Positive" opposite Sophia Bush and Pierce Brosnan.
