Weekend Box-Office: ANGEL HAS FALLEN Tops Labor Day Weekend

At the end of the summer season, the Gerard Butler action flick "Angel Has Fallen" dominated the box-office over a Labor Day weekend with no new wide releases. It was an overall dull weekend, but most films generally experienced softer drops after increasing the theater count.

The threequel "Angel Has Fallen" topped the charts in its second weekend with $11.5 million, and it's expected to gross an estimated $14.5 million over the four-day holiday time frame. This brings the film's domestic tally to $43.6 million against a $40 million budget.

In second place we find the R-rated comedy "Good Boys" with $9.1 million over the weekend, and $11.6 million for the four-day frame. The film has grossed a total of $56.1 million after 18 days in theaters. Overseas it added another $2.7 million for an international cume of $11.7 million.

Disney's "The Lion King" dropped just 17% this weekend and raked in $6.7 million. For the extended holiday period, the film is expected to deliver an estimated $9 million. The film's domestic cume has reached $523.4 million, while internationally it added another $20.6 million for an overseas total that has crossed the $1 billion milestone.

Universal's "Hobbs & Shaw" finished in fourth place with $6.2 million and could deliver as much as $8 million for the extended weekend. Domestically, the film has raked in a total of $158.8 million, while overseas it added another $39 million for a $525 million international cume.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the faith-based sports drama "Overcomer" with $5.7 million over the weekend, and around $7.8 million for the four-day time frame. The film has grossed a total of $19.4 million domestically against a $5 million budget.

Sony's "Spider-Man: Far From Home" has re-entered the Top 10 after adding 2,154 more locations. The film was re-released with four added minutes of unseen footage, and it helped the film add another $4.2 million this weekend.
