The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world and it follows Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, who races to make contact with the crew of a spacecraft as they try to return home to Earth. The screenplay was written by "The Revenant" and "Overlord" scribe Mark L. Smith. Clooney and Grant Heslov will produce alongside Anonymous Content and Syndicate Entertainment, who sourced the material.
The film is yet untitled and will begin production in October. This will be Clooney's first feature film for Netflix, his first film acting role since 2016's "Money Monster" and his first directorial project since "Suburbicon" in 2017. He recently executive produced, starred in and directed two episodes of Hulu's miniseries "Catch-22".
