The animated threequel "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" opened in theaters with a franchise record and ended the box-office drought that has plagued the first two months of 2019. Also, the wrestling biopic "Fighting With my Family" expanded nationwide and performed relatively well.

"How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" opened with $55.5 million from 4,259 theaters, and has grossed a domestic total of $58 million after including the $2.5 million grossed from an exclusive Fandango event that took place earlier this month. This is the largest opening weekend for this franchise, beating the original film's $43.4 million and the 2014 sequel's 49.4 million debuts. Overseas, the threequel has brought in $215.6 million after six weeks in international release. "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" received a very positive response from both critics (91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 71 on Metacritic) and moviegoers ("A" grade from CinemaScore's polls).
Last week's box-office champ, "Alita Battle Angel" dropped to #2 with $12 million grossed over the weekend. The film dropped a steep 58% and its domestic total has reached $60.6 million after 11 days in theaters. Overseas it's doing a lot beter, with a $62.2 million debut in China, which brings its international total to $202.6 million.
In third place we find "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" with $10 million. The film has grossed a domestic total of $83.6 million and internationally it's struggling with a tally of $53 million from 73 markets.
The dramedy/biopic "Fighting With My Family" expanded into 2,711 theaters this weekend and finished in fourth place with $8 million against a budget of $11 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by the romantic comedy "Isn't It Romantic" with $7.5 million after a 47% drop. The film has grossed $33.7 million, so far, against a $31 million budget.
Barely making it into the Top 10 is the faith based sports drama "Run the Race" which opened with $2.2 million from 853 theaters.
