Jennifer Aniston has signed on to star in Apple's upcoming series inspired by Jennette McCurdy's memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died", which has been given a 10-episode order. McCurdy and Ari Katcher ("Ramy", "Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show") will write, executive produce, and showrun the series.
According to the official logline, the series is a "heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of Jennette McCurdy's struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother (Aniston). The dramedy will center on the the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid's show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as 'a starlet's mother'".
McCurdy previously starred in shows like "iCarly" at Nickelodeon and made appearances in numerous other TV series and films. Her memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died" was published in 2022 with Simon & Shuster and it quickly topped the New York Times best seller list, remaining on the list for over a year.
Aniston will executive produce in addition to starring via Echo Films. Sharon Horgan and Stacy Greenberg executive produce for Merman along with Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara for LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay. Apple Studios will produce.
