A new small-screen adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror novel "Carrie" is currently in the works at Amazon. Mike Flanagan ("The Haunting of Hill House", "Midnight Mass", "The Fall of the House of Usher") is set as executive producer, showrunner, writer, and will direct select episodes of the series. And now, Amazon MGM Studios has officially revealed the main cast.
The cast will include Summer H. Howell ("Spirit in the Blood", "Clouds") as Carrie White, Siena Agudong (Netflix's "Resident Evil", "The 4:30 Movie") as Sue Snell, Matthew Lillard ("Scream", "Five Nights at Freddy's") as Principle Grayle, Samantha Sloyan ("The Fall of the House of Usher", "Grey's Anatomy") as Margaret White, Alison Thornton ("Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce", "School Spirits") as Chris Hargensen, Thalia Dudek ("The Running Man", "The Undertow") as Emaline, Amber Midthunder ("Prey", "Novocaine") as Miss Desjardin, Josie Totah ("Saved by the Bell", "The Buccaneers") as Tina, Arthur Conti ("Beetlejuice Beetlejuice") as Billy, and Joel Oulette ("Sullivan’s Crossing", "Nancy Drew") as Tommy.
The show has been described as a bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White (Howell), who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother (Sloyan). After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.
Although "Carrie" has been in development since October 2024, the show received the official greenlight in April 2025. Amazon has ordered eight episodes, with production already underway in Vancouver. Trevor Macy will executive produce. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.
