"Captain America: Brave New World" is still the #1 movie at the box office, but the bad news is that it suffered a massive drop in its sophomore frame. Meanwhile, the Stephen King adaptation "The Monkey" scored a decent debut, but the drama "The Unbreakable Boy" tanked.

"Captain America: Brave New World" is holding in first place with $28.1 million in its second weekend, but the 68.3% decline spells trouble for the Marvel blockbuster. The film's domestic total has reached $141.1 million, while overseas it isn't doing much better, raking in $148.3 million, so far. That's $289.5 million worldwide against a $180 million budget.
The horror comedy "The Monkey" opened in second place with $14 million from 3,200 theaters. It also raked in $6.5 million from foreign markets. Director Osgood Perkins' breakout feature "Longlegs" opened with $22.4 million last year and went on to gross $74.3 million domestically with rave reviews from critics, but a "C+" CinemaScore. "The Monkey" also received good reviews from critics, but audiences didn't enjoy it much ("C+" CinemaScore).
"Paddington in Peru" finished its second weekend in third place with $6.5 million, which is a 49% drop from the previous week. Domestically, the film has now grossed $25.2 million, while overseas it raked in $125 million.
The animated film "Dog Man" is holding in fourth place with $5.8 million, down 40.1% in its fourth weekend. The film has now grossed a total of $78.7 million in North America and $26.1 million internationally, which adds up to $104.9 million worldwide.
The rom-com slasher flick "Heart Eyes" rounds out the Top 5 with $2.7 million in its third frame. Unfortunately, the film has suffered a massive 72.7% drop, and its domestic cume is now at $26.6 million.
In eighth place we find the faith-based drama "The Unbreakable Boy", which opened with a weak $2.5 million from 1,687 theaters. The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, but audiences generally liked it ("A" CinemaScore).
In other news, the Chinese animated film "Ne Zha 2" has grossed a total of $1.8 billion worldwide, becoming the highest grossing animated movie ever globally. It also ranks eighth on the all-time global charts, behind "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($1.9 billion).
