Margaret Qualley ("Maid", "The Leftovers") and Geraldine Viswanathan ("Blockers") have signed on to lead the upcoming film directed by Ethan Coen, his first solo project directing and writing without his brother Joel.

Plot and character details are being kept under wraps. The script is co-written by Ethan Coen and his wife Tricia Cooke. The couple also produces with Robert Graf and Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. The film will begin filming this fall.

Coen had spent months searching for his leads. In recent weeks, a shortlist was made and chemistry readings were held. In the end, insiders say Qualley and Viswanathan's screen tests was the absolute best.

Qualley recently received an Emmy nomination for her role in Netflix's limited series "Maid". She also premiered her most recent project "Stars at Noon" at this year's Cannes Film Festival. She can next be seen in the thriller "Sanctuary", which opens at the Toronto Film Festival next month.

Viswanathan recently starred in Sony Pictures' "The Broken Hearts Gallery", and is set to star in "The Beanie Bubble".
