The book follows a wealthy financier who is dissatisfied by a novel based on his life and his wife's portrayal. He asks a secretary to ghostwrite his memoir and set the record straight, however, she grows uncomfortably aware that he is rewriting history and his wife's place in it. The book is a narrative puzzle told in four different voices and genres, that subverts the notion of truth and who gets to define it.
HBO acquired the recent bestseller from Riverhead Books in a competitive situation. Diaz will also executive produce the project. The series is currently in development, and a writer is being sought for this project.
Winslet will next begin filming the biopic "Lee", which tells the true story of fashion-photographer-turned-war-correspondent Lee Miller.
