Jack Black to Play Claptrap in BORDERLANDS Movie

Jack Black to Play Claptrap in BORDERLANDS Movie
The impressive star-studded ensemble cast of the video game adaptation movie "Borderlands" recently added Jack Black, who is set to voice the character Claptrap, a persistently sarcastic robot that isn’t all that invested in the survival of his teammates.

The film, which will be directed by Eli Roth ("Hostel", "Knock Knock"), also stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis. Blanchett is playing the main protagonist Lilith, while Hart is portraying a skilled soldier named Roland. Curtis has been cast as Tannis, an archeologist working on Pandora.

Roth previously worked with both Black and Blanchett on the 2018 family comedy "The House With a Clock in Its Walls", and here's what he had to say about the reunion:
"I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen."
"Borderlands" is based on the RPG shooter video game franchise that launched in 2009. The latest draft of the script has been written by "Chernobyl" creator Craig Mazin.

Black is also set to reunite with "School of Rock" director Richard Linklater for the animated Netflix movie "Apollo 10½: A Space Age Adventure".
