Jamie Lee Curtis is the latest addition to the increasinly impressive cast of the upcoming feature adaptation of the popular video game "Borderlands". Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett previously signed on to star in the film, which will be directed by Eli Roth from a script by "Chernobyl" creator Craig Mazin.
The video games series originally launched in 2009. The latest installment in the franchise, "Borderlands 3" was released in September 2019 and sold more than 66 million units.
The film's story is set in the distant future when four "vault hunters" travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt down an alien vault rumored to contain advanced technology.
Curtis is set to play Tannis, an archeologist on Pandora who might have the key to finding a vault filled with alien weapon technology, but whose complicated history with legendary thief Lilith (Blanchett) isn't going to help. Hart will star as skilled soldier Roland.
The film will be produced by Avi and Ari Arad alongside Erik Feig. Gearbox founder and franchise executive producer Randy Pitchford will exec produce the film.
