Weekend Box-Office: THE MARTIAN Tops Worst Weekend of 2015

For a third consecutive week, all new releases crashed and burned. This Halloween weekend has become the worst weekend of 2015 with only Fox's "The Martian" continuing to deliver strong results.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

The best box-office news, however, has nothing to do with the U.S. "Spectre", the new James Bond flick is breaking records overseas where it has grossed $80.4 million from six countries, surpassing the records set by "Skyfall" in most of these locations. "Spectre" opens in the U.S. on November 6th.

"The Martian" had no problem staying ahead of the competition over the Halloween weekend. The sci-fi drama grossed another $11.4 million and brought its domestic total to $182.8 million, $4 million shy of becoming director Ridley Scott's highest grossing domestic release.

In second place, the family horror flick "Goosebumps" grossed an additional $10.2 million, proving to be a slow, but constant earner for Sony, although the same can't be said of its international results.

"Bridge of Spies" is holding steady at #3 with a weekend gross of $8 million and a domestic total of $45 million, just enough to break even with its $40 million budget.

"Hotel Transylvania 2" enjoyed a solid Halloween weekend in fourth place with $5.8 million, and the animated sequel is now $7.7 million ahead of its predecessor. It's also Sony's highest grossing film of 2015.

The new release "Burnt" rounds up the top 5. The Bradley Cooper starrer only managed a $5 million debut versus a $20 million budget. For Cooper that's even worse than the $9.6 million opening weekend of the critically maligned "Aloha". Still, Sandra Bullock's new film "Our Brand is Crisis" performed even worse with only $3.4 million grossed over the weekend for a #8 debut.

The other wide release of the week, the horror comedy "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" couldn't even get into the top 10. The film scored $1.7 million from 1,509 theaters.

New Wide Releases: "Burnt", "Our Brand is Crisis", "Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse".
