"Avatar: The Way of Water" continues to dominate in its third weekend at the box-office and has conquered the New Year frame with ease against other holiday releases as business came back to life following a slow Christmas weekend.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" is still on top with $63.4 million (up 2% from last weekend) for the 3-day and $82.4 million for the 4-day. The domestic tally has reached $440.5 million after 17 days in theaters. With another $956.9 million from overseas markets, the film's global total is now at $1.37 billion.
The animated sequel "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is holding in second place with $16.3 million, a 31% increase from its somewhat disappointing debut, and will probably end the extended weekend frame with $21.7 million. The film has grossed a total of $59.9 million domestically in 12 days, and another $68.8 million from 71 countries. That's $129.5 million worldwide.
"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is going through something of a revival in its eighth weekend. The film finished in third place, up three spots from last week, and grossed $4.8 million (up 38% from the previous frame) and $6.5 million for the holiday frame. The Disney/Marvel flick has grossed a total of $437.9 million domestically and another $380.5 million overseas for a grand total of $818.5 million worldwide.
In fourth place we fnd the Whitney Houston biopic "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" with $4.2 million, dropping 11%, and $5.4 million for the 4-day. The film has grossed $16 million in North America, and another $13.1 million from 44 overseas markets.
The Top 5 is rounded out by Paramount's "Babylon" with $2.7 million in its sophomore frame, dropping 24%.
