"The New Pope" actor Jude Law is set to team up with Oscar-winning "Jojo Rabbit" filmmaker Taike Waititi for an upcoming limited series titled "The Auteur". Showtime is in negotiations with both for the miniseries.
Based on the Oni Press graphic novel series by Rick Spears and James Callahan, the series examines Hollywood through the eyes of an eccentric auteur filmmaker. If the deal goes through, Waititi will co-write the limited series as well as direct some of the episodes, while Law will be playing the title character. Eric Gitter of Closed on Mondays and Dan Halsted executive produce.
Law will first begin shooting the third installment in the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, and Waititi is set to direct Marvel's "Thor: Love and Thunder" later this year.
