Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds") and Kiernan Shipka ("Chilling Adventures of Sabrina") have signed on to star in Quibi's upcoming drama series "Swimming With Sharks" from Lionsgate. The show will be a contemporary update of the 1994 film of the same name that starred Kevin Spacey and Frank Whaley.
Directed by Tucker Gates ("The Morning Show", "Homeland") from a script by Kathleen Robertson ("Murder in the First"), the series follows Lou (Shipka), a young female assistant, who works for Joyce (Kruger), a sole female studio head, at a company filled with manipulators, schemers and intrigue. But little do they know Lou is poised to outwit them all.
Dana Brunetti, Spacey's former producing partner, and Liz Destro will serve as executive producers alongside Jay Cohen and Stephen Israel, who produced the film. A release date has not been set.
Kruger can next be seen in Universal's spy thriller "355" opposite Jessica Chastain and Lupita N'yongo, which is set for a 2021 release.
