The horror sequel "It Chapter Two" conquered the weekend box-office, but ended up with less than the first film and fell short of any records. There were no other new wide releases this week.

Find out more about the weekend box-office after the jump.

Warner Bros. and New Line's Stephen King adaptation "It: Chapter Two" delivered a massive $91 million debut, which is quite a decline from the $123 million opening weekend of the first film. In 2017, "It"  broke the record for largest opening for a horror film and the largest September opening of all-time. The sequel ranks second for both, which is not a bad feat in itself. The film's budget is estimated at $70 million.

Internationally, the film opened in 75 territories and raked in $94 million , an improvement over its predecessor's $66 million overseas debut. In short, what it lost domestically, it recouped from overseas markets. Overall, the sequel launched with $185 million worldwide, while the first film scored $189 million in 2017.

"It: Chapter Two" received less favorable reviews from critics than its predecessor (64% on Rotten Tomatoes and 58 on Metacritic), but audiences liked it almost as much as the first film (80% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and a "B+" grade from CinemaScore's polls).

Another sequel, the Gerard Butler actioner "Angel Has Fallen" finished in second place with $6 million after dropping 49%. The film has grossed a total of $53.4 million domestically against a $40 million budget.

In third place we find the R-rated comedy "Good Boys" with $5.3 million. The film dropped 43% in its fifth weekend and its domestic total now stands at $66.8 million. Internationally it brought in another $2.3 million for an overseas total of $15.6 million. The film only cost $20 million to produce.

Disney's "The Lion King" remake landed in fourth place and raked in $4.1 million over the weekend for a domestic total of $529 million. It also brought in another $13.4 million from overseas markets, which brings its international tally to almost $1.07 billion. With $1.6 billion worldwide, the film ranks seventh all-time.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the faith-based sports drama "Overcomer", which added 300+ locations in its third weekend and brought in $3.7 million after dropping just 34%. The film has grossed a total of $24.7 million domestically against a $5 million budget.

A Top 10 surprise this weekend is the ascension of the dramedy "The Peanut Butter Falcon" starring Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson. The film added 61 theaters and finished the weekend in seventh place, from 12th last weekend, grossing $2.2 million in a very tight race with "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and "Ready or Not". The film has grossed a total of $12.2 million after 31 days in theaters.
