Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" is still topping the charts and breaking record after record. Meanwhile, the new comedy "Overboard" delivered a surprisingly strong debut, while "Tully" and "Bad Samaritan" performed poorly.
"Avengers: Infinity War" continues its dominance at the box-office with $112.4 million over the weekend and another batch of broken records. The film has become the fastest to reach $1 billion worldwide, in just 11 days, and in Russia it scored the best opening weekend performance ever with $17.6 million. Its domestic total has reached $450.8 million after ten days, while overseas it has raked in $713.3 million.
The first of the new wide releases, the comedy "Overboard", a remake of the 1987 film of the same name, opened in second place with $14.7 million from 1,623 theaters. The film received mostly negative reviews from critics (30% on Rotten Tomatoes and 45 on Metacritic) while CinemaScore announced a solid "A-" grade from their audience polls.
The horror film "A Quiet Place" dropped to #3 and grossed $7.6 million over the weekend, bringin its domestic tally to $159.8 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $95.4 million.
"I Feel Pretty" starring Amy Schumer finished in fourth place with $4.9 million. The film has grossed $37.7 million domestically against a $32 million budget.
Rounding out the Top 5 is the Dwayne Johnson starrer "Rampage", which grossed $4.6 million over the weekend. Its domestic total has reached $87.7 million, but overseas it raked in a more impressive $293.1 million.
The other new wide releases, the dramedy "Tully" and the thriller "Bad Samaritan" failed to find an audience. The former opened in sixth place with $3.1 million from 1.353 theaters, while the latter brought in $1.7 million from 2,007 theaters, finishing at #10.
