Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.
The threequel "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" topped the charts with $23.2 million over the weekend, a $7 million drop from the debut of its predecessor "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials", and $9 million less than the original's. It also raked in $82 million overseas in ten days. The final chapter in the franchise has the biggest budget ($62 million) of the three films. The film scored mixed reviews from critics (44 on Rotten Tomatoes and 51 on Metacritic) and an okay "B+" from CinemaScore's polls.
In second place we find "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" with $16.4 million after a very small 16% drop. The film has grossed $338 million domestically, so far, becoming Sony's third largest domestic release of all-time, behind "Spider-Man" ($403.7 million) and "Spider-Man 2" ($373.5 million). Overseas the film is close to reaching the $500 million mark.
