"Jumanji" took a step down at the box-office over the weekend, without showing signs of slowing down, and "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" took its place at the top of the charts. Also, the newly expanded "Hostiles" delivered a strong performance in its first wide weekend.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

The threequel "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" topped the charts with $23.2 million over the weekend, a $7 million drop from the debut of its predecessor "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials", and $9 million less than the original's. It also raked in $82 million overseas in ten days. The final chapter in the franchise has the biggest budget ($62 million) of the three films. The film scored mixed reviews from critics (44 on Rotten Tomatoes and 51 on Metacritic) and an okay "B+" from CinemaScore's polls.

In second place we find "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" with $16.4 million after a very small 16% drop. The film has grossed $338 million domestically, so far, becoming Sony's third largest domestic release of all-time, behind "Spider-Man" ($403.7 million) and "Spider-Man 2" ($373.5 million). Overseas the film is close to reaching the $500 million mark.

The western "Hostiles" starring Christian Bale expanded nationwide this weekend and finished in third place with $10.2 million. The film cost $50 million to produce, which might be too difficult to earn back, especially as it only managed a "B" grade from CinemaScore. It received mostly positive reviews from critics (72% on Rotten Tomatoes and 65 on Metacritic).

In fourth place, "The Greatest Showman" continues to put up a great fight at the box-office, dropping just 11% and grossing $9.5 million. An amazing performance since it opened with just $8.8 million on December 20th. The film has earned $126.4 million domestically, so far, and another $133 million overseas.

The Top 5 is rounded up by Steven Spielberg's "The Post" which grossed 8.8 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic cume to a decent $58.5 million.

Oscar hopeful "The Shape of Water" expanded nationwide and grossed $5.7 million, finishing in eighth place. The film has grossed $37.6 million and cost just $19.5 million to produce.

We also have a surprise developement in tenth place, where the Bollywood drama "Padmaavat" opened with $4.2 million from 324 theaters, the largest debut ever for a Bollywood film.
