It was a quiet weekend at the box-office, with just one modest new wide release, so Disney and Pixar's "Coco" once again topped the charts. Meanwhile, "The Disaster Artist" and "Lady Bird" continue to impress as they expand further.
Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.
"Coco" dominated the box-office for a third consecutive weekend with $18.3 million. It helped a lot that for the last two weeks it had no direct competition of any kind. But that changes next week when "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" smashes into theaters with high expectations for a $200+ million debut. "Coco" has grossed $135.5 million domestically and another $254 million overseas versus a $200 million budget.
In second place, Warner Bros' "Justice League" is holding on with $9.5 million after a 42% drop. The film has crossed the $200 million mark in the U.S. and the $400 million milestone internationally, but it also has a huge $300 million price tag. Still, it's good news overall for Warner, as the studio has crossed the $2 billion mark domestically, becoming the first studio to do so in 2017 thanks to other big hits like "Dunkirk", "Wonder Woman" and "It". Things are also looking good on the international front as the studio has topped $5 billion recently, which is an all-time high for them.
The drama "Wonder" is holding in third place with $8.4 million, which brings its domestic total to $100.3 million. It's also starting to show some serious activity overseas, grossing $29.3 million so far.
At #4 we have James Franco's stranger than fiction biopic "The Disaster Artist" with $6.4 million from just 840 theaters bringing its domestic total to $8 million.
The Top 5 is rounded up by "Thor: Ragnarok" with $6.2 million. The MCU installment has reached $301.1 million domestically and $532 million overseas, making it the tenth film in the Marvel franchise to top $300 million in the U.S.
The highly acclaimed coming-of-age dramedy "Lady Bird" has finished in ninth place with $3.5 million and has already grossed $22.3 million, more than double its budget.
In tenth place we have the only new wide release, the comedy "Just Getting Started" which finished the weekend with $3.1 million from 2,161 theaters versus a $22 million budget. That's a flop by any standards.
Other solid performances in limited release include Guillermo del Toro's "The Shape of Water" with $1.1 million from 41 theaters and the new arrival "I, Tonya" with a solid $245,602 from just four theaters.
