SUPERMAN Sequel MAN OF TOMORROW Opens in Theaters July 2027

Superman 2025 Movie David Corenswet

"Superman: Man of Tomorrow", the sequel to James Gunn' summer blockbuster "Superman", is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. The announcement was made by Gunn himself via X along with a comic book image of the red-caped superhero and Lex Luthor in his Warsuit:

"Superman" starring David Corenswet in the lead role proved to be a box office hit, grossing $352.5 million in North America and $260.5 million internationally. That's a total of $613 million worldwide against a production budget estimated at around $225 million. It's not really on par with what superhero movies used to gross in their heyday, but it's as close as it can get to a bonafide box office hit these days, and so far the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2025.

In August, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav personally announced that Gunn would return to write and direct the new installment. In 2026 the studio will release "Supergirl" directed by Craig Gillespie ("I, Tonya", "Cruella") and starring Milly Alcock, as well as the horror film "Clayface", which will be directed by James Watkins ("Eden Lake", "Speak No Evil") from a script by Mike Flanagan ("The Haunting of Hill House", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "Midnight Mass") and Hossein Amini ("Drive", "The Four Feathers") and will star Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie. Meanwhile, "The Batman Part II" is slated to open on October 1, 2027.
