Gloden Globe nominated "House of the Dragon" star Emma D'Arcy is set to star in Oscar-winning "Birdman" and "The Revenant" filmmaker Alejandro G. Inarritu's upcoming new film. The untitled project, which stars Tom Cruise, is filming at Pinewood Studios in the UK. The film will be released in theaters on October 2, 2026.
The movie's plot focuses on the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity's savior before the disaster he's unleashed destroys everything. Inarritu is once again collaborating with "Birdman" co-writers Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone. Sabina Bierman also shares a screenwriting credit.
D'Arcy confirmed the news, saying: "I'm delighted to be working with such extraordinary and exacting artists as Alejandro and Tom. They are the masters of their craft, and witnessing them in combination has been a privilege".
The cast also includes Sandra Hüller ("Anatomy of a Fall", "The Zone of Interest"), John Goodman ("Argo", "The Big Lebowski"), Jesse Plemons ("Kinds of Kindness", "The Power of the Dog"), Sophie Wilde ("Babygirl", "Talk to Me"), Riz Ahmed ("Sound of Metal") and Michael Stuhlbarg ("Dopesick", "The Shape of Water").
D'Arcy is also set star in the third season of "House of the Dragon". Cruise can next be seen in the upcoming sequel "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning", which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14. Its theatrical release is set for May 23rd, Memorial Day weekend.
