Weekend Box Office: WOLF MAN Mauled By MUFASA and ONE OF THEM DAYS Over MLK Frame

Weekend Box Office One Of Them Days Wolf Man

"Mufasa" still reigns over the box office and dominated the MLK holiday weekend, but it came close to losing that top spot to the newly released comedy "One of Them Days" starring Keke Palmer and SZA. The other new wide release, the Blumhouse horror film "Wolf Man" didn't do so well, finishing behind the two previously mentioned films.

After a brief stint in second place, "Mufasa: The Lion King" reclaimed the #1 position with $11.7 million, down just 17.7% from the previous week. The film has now grossed a total of $209.7 million domestically and $382.2 million internationally, which brings the film's worldwide total to $591.9 million after 5 weeks in theaters.

The comedy "One of Them Days" opened in second place with $11.6 million from 2,675 theaters, and over the 4-day weekend raked in $14.2 million against a $14 million budget. The film received a positive reception from both critics (96% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A-" CinemaScore).

The horror film "Wolf Man" made its debut in third place with $10.9 million from 3,354 locations, and $12.5 million for the 4-day holiday frame. It also raked in $4.8 million from international markets for a global total of $17.3 million. Even with a small budget of $25 million, it's not a great result The film was poorly received by critics (52% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("C-" CinemaScore).

The threequel "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" finished in fourth place with $8.6 million, a 24.3% decline from the previous frame. The film has now grossed a total of $218.8 million domestically and $203.5 million internationally, which adds up to a worldwide total of $422.3 million.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the sequel "Den of Thieves: Pantera", which fell from #1 last week, and finished its sophomore frame with $6.6 million, which is a 56.1% drop from its debut. The domestic total has reached $27.3 million, and overseas it adds another $5 million for a worldwide cume of $32.6 million.
