Jared Leto to Play Skeletor in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie

Oscar winner Jared Leto ("Dallas Buyers Club", "Morbius") has joined the cast of Amazon MGM's upcoming live-action film "Masters of the Universe" as the villainous Skeletor. The film is directed by Travis Knight ("Bumblebee"), and the latest draft of the script is penned by Chris Butler ("ParaNorman"). Previous drafts were written by David Callaham ("The Expendables"), and Aaron and Adam Nee ("The Lost City").

The cast already includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Skeletor’s lieutenant, Evil-Lyn; Camila Mendes as He-Man's trusted compatriot, Teela; Idris Elba as Teela's father, Man-at-Arms; Sam C. Wilson will play Trap Jaw; Kojo Attah will play Tri-Klops; and Hafthor Bjornsson is set to play Goat Man.

Escape Artists and Mattel Films are producing the film, which will be released on June 5, 2026.

Leto is also set to play the lead role in Disney's "Tron: Ares".
