Paramount has officially revealed at this year's CinemaCon that a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie is in the works, and set for release in theaters sometime in 2025 or 2026. The announcement confirms what fans already suspected after it was initially teased at the end of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts".
No other details are known about the project at this point. It was however confirmed that Steven Spielberg is involved as an executive producer, along with "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" film series producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy.
No filmmaker has been attached yet, but "Rise of the Beasts" helmer Steven Caple Jr. is in talks for another "Transformers" movie, after his previous installment grossed around $439 million worldwide.
This crossover has been teased before, with Bonaventura calling it a "possibility" as far back as 2014. Although a live-action or animated crossover has never happened until now, there have been comics crossovers, starting with 1986's "G.I. Joe and the Transformers".
