For a while it seemed that History was going to pull the plug on the Knights Templar series "Knightfall", but this recent announcement brings great news for fans of the show.
The most important news here is that the drama will get a second season. Furthermore, History also announced that Mark Hamill ("Star Wars") will join the cast. Hamill will star as Talus, a battle-hardened Templar and a veteran of the Crusades, who was held in captivity in the Holy Land and is now looking to train new recruits.
Other new additions to the cast include Tom Forbes as Prince Louis, the violent and unpredictable son of King Philip, and Genevieve Gaunt as Isabella, King Philip's daughter and the woman who would become "the she-wolf of France". Showrunning duties will be taken over by "The Flash" executive producer Aaron Helbing.
Here's what Eli Lehrer, executive vice-president of programming for History, had to say about the second season:

"In the face of ever-increasing competition, we’re proud of History’s track record of producing signature drama series that are epic in scope with complex characters. Whether it’s the legendary Knights Templar, the extraordinary tale of medieval Norsemen, or the story of a formerly classified United States Air Force program investigating UFOs during the Cold War, these series reflect our commitment to bringing the defining, big canvas stories of history to life. We look forward to offering our viewers a grittier, darker ‘Knightfall’ in season two and welcoming Mark to the cast."
