Liam Neeson to Star in MEN IN BLACK Spinoff Alongside Chris Hemsworth

Liam Neeson Picture
"Taken" star Liam Neeson is in talks to join the cast of Sony's "Men in Black" spinoff. The film will be directed by "Straight Outta Compton" and "The Fate of the Furious" helmer F. Gary Gray from a script written by "Iron Man" scribes Matt Holloway & Art Marcum.

While we have no official plot details, the lead roles will be filled by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, while Neeson will star as the head of the U.K. branch of the secret agency known as the Men in Black, who protect Earth from out-of-this-world threats. The first "Men in Black" film was released in 1997 and starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. It was followed by two sequels.

The "Men in Black" spinoff will be produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer.

Neeson can also be seen in Steve McQueen's crime drama "Widows" alongside Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Carrie Coon and Michelle Rodriguez. The actor's future projects include the thriller "Hard Powder", a remake of the 2014 Norwegian film "In Order of Disappearance", and the mystery thriller "Marlowe", in which Neeson stars as Raymond Chandler's famous private detective Philip Marlowe.
