Scarlett Johansson, Rupert Sanders Reteam for Massage Parlor Drama RUB & TUG

Scarlett Johansson to star in Pittsburgh mob, massage parlor biopic
Scarlett Johansson is set to reteam with "Ghost in the Shell" director Rupert Sanders for the true story crime drama "Rub & Tug". The film was recently acquired for worldwide distribution by New Regency in a bidding war against five other interested parties.

"Rub & Tug" tells the incredible true story of Jean Marie Gill (Johansson), who managed to rise to power in the male-dominated industry of massage parlors and prostitution, becoming a crime kingpin in 1970s Pittsburgh, and even ran an anabolic steroids ring for the city's NFL team, the Steelers. She accomplished all of it while cross-dressing and leaning on her allies in the gay community in order to run her business under the mob's radar.

The screenplay was written by Gary Spinelli ("American Made"). The film will be produced by Joel Silver, Tobey Maguire, Johansson, Matthew Plouffe, Spinelli, and Jonathan Lia. Production is set to begin in February with a budget of around $30 million.
