Kate Winslet, Diane Keaton and Mia Wasikowska have signed on to star in the drama "Blackbird", a remake of Bille August's 2014 Danish film "Silent Heart".
The film focuses on the topic of euthanasia, as a woman suffering from an incurable disease decides to end her life with the help of her husband. Over a weekend, her family gathers to say goodbye, but as the end draws close, her decision becomes too difficult to handle for her daughters, and old conflicts begin to surface. Keaton will star as the terminally ill mother, while Winslet and Wasikowska will play her daughters.
The film will be directed by Roger Mitchell ("Notting Hill", "My Cousin Rachel") from a script by "Silent Heart" screenwriter Christian Torpe. Filming is planned for August in London.
