Aubrey Plaza ("Legion") and Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta") are in talks to star in an upcoming "Child's Play" reboot. In case you don't remember the classic 1980s horror film, it featured Chucky, a sadistic doll possessed by a serial killer with some Voodoo know-how, that terrorizes a young boy and his mother, leaving a trail of dead bodies in its quest to claim a human host.
The reboot will apparently change the doll's origin story, from Voodoo possession to a defective technologically-advanced doll whose programming code is hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and violence. Plaza will star as the mother, and Henry will most likely play the detective who in the original film investigates Chucky's murders.
The "Child's Play" franchise has been running for 30 years, starting with the first film in 1988. It currently spans seven installments, including 2017's "Cult of Chucky", which earned mostly positive reviews. This reboot will probably launch an entirely new series.
