Annette Bening Joining the MCU in CAPTAIN MARVEL

Annette Bening Picture
Four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening ("American Beauty") has signed on to star in the upcoming Marvel movie "Captain Marvel". This would be the veteran actress' first comic book movie and a rare collaboration with a major studio.

The film is directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck ("Mississippi Grind") and it stars Brie Larson as the titular superhero, an Air Force pilot whose DNA fuses with that of an alien, which sends her on an intergalactic adventure. Bening's character has not been revealed, but rumors indicate that she may play a scientist.

The story will be set in the 1990s, meaning that it won't have any direct connection to the events from "Avengers: Infinity War". The cast also includes Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace. Pace and Hounsou will reprise their respective roles from the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.

Bening can also be seen in the Anton Chekhov adaptation "The Seagull" alongside Saoirse Ronan and Elisabeth Moss.
