Jessica Alba ("Dark Angel", "Fantastic Four", "Sin City") has joined NBC's untitled new series based on the "Bad Boys" movie franchise. The spinoff series will follow the adventures of Syd Burnett, a former DEA agent turned LAPD detective, played by Gabrielle Union, who reprises her role from "Bad Boys II". Alba will star as Nancy McKenna, a working mom, Iraq and Afghanistan army veteran and Syd's new partner, who can't help but envy Burnett's freedom. It's pretty much the typical buddy action comedy featuring two cops with totally different lifestyles and approaches who have to learn to work together.

Other cast members include Zach Gilford, Ernie Hudson and Duane Martin. Alba will also serve as executive producer on the series alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone, Doug Belgrad and Union. The script is written by "The Blacklist" scribes Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis. The pilot episode will be directed by television veteran Anton Cropper.
