Once the first news broke out that there are plans for a movie based on the 2015 Kickstarter-funded viral short "Kung Fury", the Internet exploded. It was first reported that Michael Fassbender ("12 Years a Slave", "Assassin's Creed") has signed on to star as "the greatest damn cop of all time" in the adaptation and that David Hasselhoff, who had a cameo in the original short, would also return.

Now it seems that Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed on to star alongside Fassbender and Hasselhoff. David Sandberg, who directed the viral video, will return to helm the film, and will also co-star and produce. "It" producers David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith and Aaron Schmidt are also investing in the project.

Here is the official synopsis, and below you can check out the original short that started it all:
"It’s 1985, the best year ever. Miami is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury, the greatest damn cop of all time. Kung Fury’s Thundercops are the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel space and time itself to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy, and defeat evil once and for all."
