The Labor Day weekend box-office is said to have been the worst in almost twenty years. That being said, most of the films in the Top 10 saw positive increases compared to last week, and somewhat saved an otherwise dull weekend that featured no new wide releases.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

In this tepid context, of course "The Hitman's Bodyguard" is still the No.1 movie at the box-office. The film finished its third weekend at the top of the charts with $10.2 million, almost exactly the same amount as last week, and is expected to finish the four-day holiday weekend with $13 million. Its domestic gross is expected to reach $57.5 million.

In second place, "Annabelle: Creation" scored $7.3 million over the weekend. The film is expected to gross $8.5 million for the four-day weekend, so after tomorrow its domestic tally will surpass $90 million. It has also grossed an astonishing $164.4 million internationally, and it only cost $15 million to produce.

At #3, the thriller "Wind River" brought in $5.8 million after expanding into another 507 theaters over the weekend. With 2,602 locations, the film is now a bona fide wide release and has reached a domestic total of $18.2 million.

The animated film "Leap!" (also known as "Ballerina") finished its second weekend in fourth place with $4.8 million, grossing $11.3 million in 10 days.

Steven Soderbergh's "Logan Lucky" rounds up the Top 5 with $4.4 million. The film has grossed $21.4 million and should finish somewhere around $23 million after tomorrow.

In other news, "Despicable Me 3" returned to the Top 10 and finished in ninth place with $2.3 million, a 35% increase from last week. Also, Marvel has released the pilot episode for their upcoming "Inhumans" series in 393 IMAX theaters and has grossed $1.5 million, to which it adds $1.1 million from international runs.

One of last week's new releases, the 40th anniversary re-release of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" grossed $1.8 million from 901 locations. Meanwhile, the Weinstein's period drama "Tulip Fever" featuring an all-star cast, opened outside the Top 20, grossing $1.2 million from 765 theaters.
