"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" proved once again that Marvel completely dominates the box-office. The film had no other major new releases to go up against, but I suspect that even if it did, it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" conquered the top spot with a huge $145 million, an incredible improvement of the 94.3 million opening of the first film. It's the largest increase for a second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while among sequels it is only surpassed by "Captain America: Civil War", which gained and 88.5% increase compared to "Winter Soldier". Internationally, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is doing well, with $282.6 million grossed in 13 days. The sequel received a solid "A" from CinemaScore and positive reviews from critics (81% on Rotten Tomatoes and 67 on Metacritic).

In second place we have "The Fate of the Furious", which dropped another 57.2% and grossed $8.5 million over the weekend. The domestic total has now crossed the $200 million milestone, while overseas, it's closing in on the $1 billion mark.

In third place, "The Boss Baby" grossed $6.1 million and has now taken in $156 million domestically, while overseas the tally is now at $278.2 million.

Last week's new semi-wide release, the comedy "How to Be a Latin Lover" dropped 57% and finished in fourth place with $5.2 million. The film's domestic total is now $20.6 million versus a budget estimated at $10 million.

"Beauty and the Beast" rounds up the Top 5 with $4.9 million. Not much to say about it other than the fact that it has reached a worldwide cume of $1.186 billion.

Meanwhile, "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" is probably the biggest success story around. The film scored another $3.2 million from just 418 theaters for a #7 finish and has become the highest grossing Indian film at the U.S. box-office with $16.1 million.

New Wide Releases: "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2".
