For a second consecutive weekend at the box-office, "The Fate of the Furious" topped the charts and continued to sweep ticket sales worldwide, while newcomers "Unforgettable", "The Promise" and "Phoenix Forgotten" were overtaken by Disney's nature documentary "Born in China".

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

It's no surprise that the eighth installment in the "Fast and Furious" franchise continues to dominate, grossing $38.6 million over the weekend. It's a steep 60.8% drop from its opening weekend, but its domestic tally has risen to $163.5 million. However, the big business is abroad, where the film has already grossed $744.8 million, bringing it very close to the $1 billion mark.

"The Boss Baby" and "Beauty and the Beast" delivered $12.7 million and $9.9 million, respectively for second and third place. Both films only dropped around 20%.

In fourth place we have the first of the new releases, Disneynature's new documentary "Born in China", which opened with $5.1 million domestically and an additional $9.5 million overseas, an improvement over the studio's previous releases "Monkey Kingdom" and "Bears". The film received an "A-" from opening day audiences and enjoyed good reviews from critics (81% on Rotten Tomatoes and 58 on Metacritic).

The Top 5 is rounded up by last week's new release, the comedy "Going in Style" with $5 million. The film has now grossed $31.7 million, clearing its $25 million budget.

The other new releases did not make much of an impression. The thriller "Unforgettable" placed seventh with $4.8 million. It received a low "C" grade on CinemaScore and was hated by critics (25% on Rotten Tomatoes and 45 on Metacritic). The historical drama "The Promise" finished ninth with a $4 million debut from 2,251 theaters that spells trouble for the $90 million production, which also suffered from controversies prior to release. According to CinemaScore's "A-", opening day audiences seemed to like it, but critics had mixed feelings about it (46% on Rotten Tomatoes and 48 on Metacritic)

New Wide Releases: "Unforgettable", "Free Fire", "Born in China", "The Promise".

Biggest Drop : "The Fate of the Furious" (-60.8%)

Smallest Drop : "Going in Style (-20.4%)
