Everyone knew that "Furious 7" would unleash hell this weekend at the box-office and indeed the sixth sequel in the long-running action franchise did not disappoint. Not only that, but it managed to break a whole series of records.

"Furious 7" stormed the box-office this weekend with an astonishing $143 million domestically and $240 million from international markets, scoring the biggest opening in the history of the franchise. "Fast & Furious 6" opened with $97 million in May 2014, while "Fast Five" scored a $86 million debut in April 2011. The records broken by "Furious 7" are: biggest Easter opening in history, highest-ever April debut, the studio's biggest debut, the best opening weekend gross for any of the film's actors, and the records for IMAX and premium large format screens. This was also Universal's widest release ever with 4,004 locations. As far as all-time opening weekends go, the film ranks ninth.
The other new release, "Woman in Gold" scored $2 million from 258 locations, which constitutes a pretty good start for the true story drama starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.
Last week's "Get Hard" fell nearly 62% this week and ranked third. The film has performed relatively well and has already earned $57 million domestically versus a $40 million budget.
