Austin Butler Set to Star as Patrick Bateman in New AMERICAN PSYCHO Adaptation

Austin Butler To Star As Patrick Bateman In New American Psycho

"Elvis" and "Dune: Part Two" star Austin Butler is set to star as iconic sociopath Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho", which is being developed by Lionsgate.

Jacob Elordi was originally rumored for the role. Elordi and Butler both played Elvis in separate films - Elordi in Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla" and Butler in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis".

The script for Guadagnino's film is penned by Scott Z. Burns ("The Laundromat") and it will not be a remake of the 2000 film, but a new adaptation of Ellis' novel. Christian Bale first starred as Patrick Bateman in the original adaptation.

Guadagnino recently finished work on "After the Hunt" starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield. Both of his 2024 films "Queer" and "Challengers" have received nominations for next year's Golden Globes. The filmmaker previously dabbled in horror with the films "Suspiria" and "Bones and All".
