"Moana 2" opened with $225.4 million over the 5-day holiday frame from 4,200 theaters, of which $139.7 million was the film's three-day weekend gross. The sequel has scored the biggest five-day domestic opening of all time, surpassing "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" ($204.6 million in 2023), and biggest Thanksgiving weekend debut ever, beating Disney's "Frozen" ($125 million five-day in 2013). Overseas, "Moana 2" raked in another $173.3 million for a global total of $398.7 million. The film's critical reception was mixed (63% on Rotten Tomatoes), but moviegoers mostly loved it ("A-" CinemaScore).

Last week's #1 movie, "Wicked" dropped to second place but is still going strong, grossing $81.1 million over the 3-day frame, down 27.9% from its opening weekend, and $118.5 million over the extended holiday weekend. This brings the domestic total to $263.1 million, while overseas it adds another $97.1 million for a worldwide tally of $360.2 million.

"Gladiator II" finished in third place with $31 million, a 43.6% decline from its first weekend, and a five-day total of $44 million. The film has now grossed $111.4 million domestically, and $208.8 million internationally. That adds up to $320.2 million worldwide.

In fourth place we find Dwayne Johnson's "Red One", which has slowed down its decline with $12.7 million over the 3-day frame, a 3.7% drop from last week. The film has now grossed a total of $75.8 million domestically, $73.1 million overseas, and $148.9 million worldwide.

The Top 5 is rounded out by "The Best Christmas Peageant Ever", with $3.2 million, down only 6.1%. The film has now grossed total of $31.9 million.
