Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux to Star in Watergate Series at HBO

Woody Harrelson And Justin Theroux To Star In Watergate Scandal Limited Series

Woody Harrelson ("Zombieland") and Justin Theroux ("The Leftovers") are set to executive produce and star in the upcoming HBO limited series "The White House Plumbers", which will focus on the 1970s Watergate scandal. The series is based on both public records from the era and the non-fiction book "Integrity" by Egil Krogh and Matthew Krogh.

The five-episode miniseries hails from "Veep" writers and executive producers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, and it tells the true story of E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux), who planned the Watergate burglary that eventually brought down Richard Nixon's presidency, which they were zealously trying to protect.

All five episodes of the show will be directed by "Veep" showrunner David Mandel. Mandel will also executive produce alongside "Venom" and "Zombieland" helmer Ruben Fleischer, David Bernad ("The Mule"), "Succession" executive producer Frank Rich, Paul Lee, and Nne Ebong.

Theroux is also set to star in the Apple series adaptation of "The Mosquito Coast", based on the novel written by his uncle Paul Theroux. Harrelson has finished work in the action thriller "Kate" in which he stars opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and he is currently filming "Venom 2".
