The 2019 superhero film "Hellboy" is a reboot of the cinematic franchise based on Mike Mignola's Dark Horse Comics character of the same name. Previously, Guillermo del Toro had written and directed the 2004 "Hellboy" and its sequel "Hellboy II: The Golden Army". The reboot is directed by Neil Marshall ("The Descent") from a script by Andrew Cosby (co-creator of the Syfy series "Eureka").

The film stars David Harbour ("Stranger Things") as the titular half-human, half-demon protagonist, who must face off against The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, Thomas Haden Church, Penelope Mitchell and Sophie Okonedo co-star.

"Hellboy" opened in theaters on April 12, 2019 and received mostly negative reviews from critics.
