"The Mule" is a crime drama directed and produced by Clint Eastwood from a screenplay by Nick Schenk ("Narcos", "Gran Torino") based on the New York Times Magazine Article "The Sinaloa Cartel's 90-Year Old Drug Mule" by Sam Dolnick.

In his first starring role since 2008's "Gran Torino", and his first big screen appearance since 2012's "Trouble With the Curve", Eastwood stars in "The Mule" as a 90-year-old horticulturist and Korean War veteran who becomes a "mule" for a Mexican drug cartel in order to avoid financial ruin. The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Taissa Farmiga, Alison Eastwood, Michael Pena, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, Laurence Fishburne and Clifton Collins Jr..

"The Mule" opened in theaters on December 14, 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics. It opened in second place at the box-office, grossing $17.2 million from just 2,588 theaters.

"Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well -- so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him."
