Fans of AMC's "The Walking Dead" will be happy to learn that the network is developing a spinoff series based on the original show, but set in a different location and possibly in a different moment of the zombie apocalypse. For now there isn't much information available regarding the plot, apart from rumors suggesting that the series will be set in Los Angeles and will be focusing on the early days of the zombie outbreak. Now it has been reported that Kim Dickens ("Gone Girl") will lead the spinoff.
The story will follow a divorced teacher (Cliff Curtis) and a guidance counselor (Dickens) who work together and are in a relationship. The cast will also include Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey as the guidance counselor's children from another marriage. While Curtis' character has been described as a "good man who tries to do right by everyone in his life", Dickens' character "looks like the girl next door but has a darkness to her, a troubled past that will come back to haunt her."
Adam Davison will direct the pilot, which is set to begin production in early 2015.
