NEW ON DVD/BLU-RAY - Apr. 12, 2011

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1

Rejoice Potter fans, the first part of the two-movie finale to the Harry Potter series has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray. For you muggles out there, this is hardly a recommendable movie if you haven't been paying close attention to the other movies in the series. Also, some of its pacing falls victim to the prelude atmosphere, but expect some sound filmmaking. Meanwhile, the world prepares for Part 2. Also available as a Three-Disc Combo (Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy)

Country Strong

Cheesy soap-opera meets country music in "Country Strong" a movie destined to accomplish great things, yet marred by mediocrity. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, the movie apparently attempted to cash in on the curiosity of listening to her perform her own songs, because, really, this pseudo-biopic has nothing else going for it. Especially after we've been treated to the real thing, e.g. "Walk the Line" (2005). Available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

The Incredibles (Four-Disc Combo)

The Pixar superhero animated feature receives the Blu-Ray treatment in a spectacular Four-Disc Combo (Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy). "The Incredibles" is one of the most successful superhero movies ever made and one of Pixar's biggest hits. Winner of two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature. I'm sure you might have heard of it.

Cars (Two-Disc Combo)

Yet another Pixar animated feature gets the Blu-Ray treatment, this time in a more restrained Two-Disc Combo Package (Blu-Ray/DVD). "Cars" is not really the best of the Pixar lot (as opposed to "The Incredibles"), but it does offer some solid fun and a stellar voice cast which includes the late Paul Newman. Nominated for two Academy Awards and awaiting the release of a sequel this year (June 24).
