The Italian-German miniseries "The Name of the Rose" is a new adaptation of Umberto Eco's classic novel of the same name. The eight-episode limited series is directed by Giacomo Battiato from a screenplay penned by Battiato, John Turturro, Andrea Porporati and Nigel Williams. The cast features John Turturro, Rupert Everett, Michael Emerson, Damian Hardung, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Greta Scarano, Richard Sammael, Sebastian Koch and Tchéky Karyo .

"The Name of the Rose" premiered on March 4, 2019 on Rai 1 in Italy. In the U.S., the miniseries will be released on Sundance TV on May 23, 2019, while in the U.K. it will air on the BBC.
