"The Sun Is Also a Star" is a teen romantic drama directed by Ry Russo-Young ("Before I Fall") from a script by Tracy Oliver ("Girls Trip") based on the novel of the same name by Nicola Yoon ("Everything, Everything").

The film tells the story of college-bound romantic Daniel Bae (Charles Melton) and Jamaica-born pragmatist Natasha Kingsley (Yara Shahidi), who meet and fall in love, but their romance is threatened when Natasha's family faces deportation. Jake Choi, Camrus Johnson, Gbenga Akinnagbe and John Leguizamo co-star.

"The Sun Is Also a Star" opened in theaters on May 17, 2019 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics.
