This weekend is a little lighter in terms of new offerings. While "Crazy Rich Asians" and "The Meg" will certainly continue to dominate the box-office, it's up to the historical drama "Operation Finale" and the sci-fi action film "Kin" to offer a touch of diversity this weekend. Also, the social media thriller "Searching" is expanding nationwide this weekend.

Among the new limited releases, the romantic comedy "Destination Wedding" starring Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, and the period mystery "The Little Stranger" starring Domhnall Gleeson and Ruth Wilson might be worth checking out.

OPERATION FINALE Trailers, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Operation Finale" is a historical drama directed by Chris Weitz ("About a Boy") from a script by Matthew Orton.

Set 15 years after the end of World War II, the film follows the efforts of a team of Mossad agents to track down and capture Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley), the Nazi officer who masterminded the Holocaust, who is hiding in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The film also stars Oscar Isaac, Mélanie Laurent, Nick Kroll, Lio Raz, Michael Aronov, Joe Alwyn, Greta Scacchi, Peter Strauss and Haley Lu Richardson .

"Operation Finale" opened in theaters on August 29, 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics. The film is expected to gross around $7.2 million over the weekend, and a six-day total of $10 million including $9 million for the four-day weekend.

TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN Series Trailers, Promos, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Jack Ryan" is a new eight-episode action thriller series based on the character created by Tom Clancy.

Created by Carlton Cuse ("Lost") and Graham Roland ("Fringe"), the series stars John Krasinski as up-and-coming CIA analyst Jack Ryan, who is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time and uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

The cast also features Wendell Pierce, Abbie Cornish, John Hoogenakker, Ali Suliman, Dina Shihabi, Jordi Molla and Jovan Adepo. The character Jack Ryan has been previouosly portrayed on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

The first episode was directed by Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game", while the others are helmed by Dan Sackhelm ("The Americans"). The series has already been renewed for a second season.

"Jack Ryan" premiered on August 31, 2018 via Amazon Prime Video.

Dwayne Johnson To Play Kamehameha In Robert Zemeckis' THE KING

Dwayne Johnson has signed on to star as Hawaiian king Kamehameha in the historical epic "The King". Freshly acquired by Warner Bros and New Line, the film will be directed by Robert Zemeckis ("Cast Away", "Forrest Gump") from a screenplay written by "Braveheart" scribe Randall Wallace. The film doesn't have a release date, but production is expected to begin in 2020.

Kamehameha I, or Kamehameha the Great, was the founder and first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. He succeeded in uniting the warring Hawaiian islands after several battles during the 1790s, fulfilling the prophecy that surrounded his fabled life since birth. Johnson said the following about his casting: "From the day I began my Hollywood career (2001), my dream was to bring this legacy to life".

There have been previous attempts to film Kamehameha's story in the early 2000s, including one in which Johnson would have starred, written by former Maui resident Greg Poirier ("Rosewood"), which was picked up by Columbia Pictures but never produced. At the time, objections were raised regarding Johnson not being Hawaiian (he is half Samoan and half African-American). Social media responses today featured some of the same objections, but are largely positive. It seems that Jason Momoa was regarded as a favourite for the part.

In response to some of the doubts expressed online, Johnson released a statement in which he stated: "The response to our King Kamehameha announcement has been incredible worldwide. A true privilege and dream for me to bring King Kamehameha’s legacy to life on the silver screen. The cultural and historical significance of this role, I hold with the highest respect and reverence; and, I’m honored to share the epic story of our people and culture with the world. Imua!".

Matt Smith Joins the Cast of STAR WARS: EPISODE IX in Key Role

Former "Doctor Who" and "The Crown" actor Matt Smith has signed on to star in the ninth episode of the "Star Wars" saga. According to Variety, Smith has been cast in a "key role", but don't expect Disney to reveal what that role is this early in the production process.

Directed by "The Force Awakens" helmer J.J. Abrams, following Colin Trevorrow's departure, "Star Wars: Episode IX" is currently filming at Pinewood Studios in London. Returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver. Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan and Naomi Ackie are among the newcomers, while Billy Dee Williams is set to reprise the role of Lando Calrissian. Carrie Fisher, who died two years ago, will appear as Leia Organa via previously unreleased footage shot for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Smith can also be seen in Mary Harron's biopic "Charlie Says", in which he plays Charles Manson. The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday.

"Star Wars: Episode IX" will be released in theaters in December 2019.

UPDATE - 8/30/2018: Baldwin has dropped out of the Joker movie two days after the casting was announced. The actor said: "I’m no longer doing that movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part. The original article follows below.

Oscar-nominated actor Alec Baldwin is set to appear in the upcoming Joker origin film opposite Joaquin Phoenix. The actor will play Batman a.k.a. Bruce Wayne's father Thomas, who, according to various sources, will be potryed in a non-traditional manner as a cheesy and tanned businessman similar to a 1980s Donald Trump. Filming will start on September 10.

The film will be co-written and directed by Todd Phillips ("The Hangover") and will reportedly have a moderate $55 million budget. Phoenix is set to star as the Clown Prince of Crime, but the film will not be connected to Warner's other DC Comics films featuring the Joker. Jared Leto will reprise the role for the "Suicide Squad" sequel, as well as a standalone Joker movie.

The story will focus on the Joker's rise as a criminal mastermind and it has been described as more of a dark character study with a 1980s sensibility, inspired by Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" and "The King of Comedy". The cast also includes Robert De Niro as a talk-show host who plays a part in the character's descent into madness, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron and Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond.

Alec Baldwin can also be seen in Edward Norton's crime drama "Motherless Brooklyn" based on Jonathan Lethem's novel of the same name.

"The Bookshop" is a period drama based on the novel of the same name written by Penelope Fitzgerald.

Set in a small town in 1959 England, the film tells the story of a woman (Emily Mortimer) who decides, against polite but ruthless local opposition, to open a bookshop, a decision which becomes a political minefield. Written and directed by Isabel Coixet ("The Secret Life of Words"), the film also stars Bill Nighy, Patricia Clarkson, Hunter Tremayne and James Lance.

"The Bookshop" received a limited release in theaters on August 24, 2018 and received mixed reviews from critics.

GREENLEAF Season 3 Trailer, Images and Poster

The drama series "Greenleaf" is back for its third season tonight at 10p on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Another new episode will air Wednesday, August 29, at 10p. Created by Craig Wright ("Dirty Sexy Money"), the series focuses on the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, dark secrets and lies.

In the new season, the news of the infidelities of Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) cause Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) to contact her old friend Maxine Patterson (Patti LaBelle) for advice on continuing Calvary Fellowship World Ministries on her own. The cast also includes Merle Dandridge, Kim Hawthorne, Lamman Rucker, Desiree Ross and Tye White .
