Vin Diesel to Star in BLOODSHOT Comic Adaptation

Vin Diesel Picture
"Fast & Furious" star Vin Diesel has signed on to lead Sony's upcoming sci-fi actioner "Bloodshot" based on the Valiant comic book series of the same name. The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Blur Studios creative director Dave Wilson, who was in charge of the CG cinematic sequences from video games like "Star Wars: The Force Unleased II", "Mass Effect 2" and "The Division". According to reports from various sources, the film is expected to be similar in tone to 1980s sci-fi action classics like "Robocop" and "Terminator".

"Bloodshot" was created in 1992 by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton. Its titular protagonist, whose real name is Ray Garrison, is a former soldier brought back from the dead with powers of regeneration and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. In the comics, the character sets out to discover who he really is, because his memory had been wiped repeatedly, and exact revenge on those who are responsible for what he has become while also coming to terms with his new and improved self. To this end he enlists the help of another group of augmented combatants called Chainsaw.

The screenplay was written by Oscar-nominated "Arrival" scribe Eric Heisserer and the film is being produced by Neal H. Moritz ("Fast & Furious"), and executive-produced by Matthew Vaughn ("Kick-Ass") and Dan Mintz. Filming is set to begin in July.
