"The Revenant" continues to lead at the box-office despite the bout of bad weather that struck the East Coast. Meanwhile, new arrivals "Dirty Grandpa", "The 5th Wave" and "The Boy", performed modestly well.

Find out more about the weekend box office after the jump.

The effect of bad weather was a 27% drop at the weekend box-office compared to last year. The lack of significant competition also helped "The Revenant" hold on to the top spot. The Oscar hopeful grossed $16 million over the weekend and has now reached a domestic total of $119 million, surpassing DiCaprio's 2013 Box-Office hit "The Wolf of Wall Street" ($116).

In second place, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" added $14 million for a total of $879 million domestically. Overseas, however, the film won't be able to come close to James Cameron's "Avatar" which grossed $2 billion from international markets.

"Ride Along 2" took a steep 63% dive from last week's #2 position, grossing $12.9 million for a $59 million total. The first film only dropped 47% in its second weekend.

The new R-rated comedy "Dirty Grandpa" starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron opened in fourth place with $11.5 million. Slammed by critics and moviegoers alike, the film's weak performance is unfortunately not blizzard-related.

Rounding up the Top 5 is the horror film "The Boy" starring Lauren Cohan of "The Walking Dead" fame, which grossed $11.2 million. It wasn't a hit with the critics and audiences haven't been enthusiastic, but its budget is estimted at $10 million, so I guess the filmmakers are pretty happy.

And last, but not exactly least, the young adult sci-fi thriller "The 5th Wave" starring Chloe Grace Moretz opened this weekend with a very modest $10.7 million versus a $38 million budget. Internationally the film is doing somewhat better with a total of $27.4 million from 55 markets.

New Wide Releases: "The 5th Wave", "The Boy", "Dirty Grandpa".
