Universal's "Krampus" aimed high and almost took first place, however "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" still held on despite a considerable drop.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" returned to the top for a third straight week, despite a 64% drop. The film grossed $18.6 million over the weekend and has now reached $227 million domestically and $296 million overseas, raising its worldwide total above the first film in the franchise.
The Christmas horror comedy "Krampus" ranked second with $16 million, which already sets it even with its $15 million budget. This is director Michael Dougherty's second feature after the Halloween classic "Trick r'Treat" which only received a video release in 2007.
The Warner Bros. and MGM collaboration "Creed" held strong in third place with $15.5 million over the three-day timeframe and has now doubled its $35 million budget.
Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur" dropped to No.4 with $15.5 million and registered as the second largest weekend drop for a Pixar film and overall bad news for the animated feature.
The top five is rounded up by "Spectre" which grossed $5.4 million over the weekend. The film has now reached $184 domestically and $792 million worldwide.
